Mel Davies

Mel Davies, BSc(Hons), HCPC, MMACP

Mel qualified from the University West of England in Bristol in 2000, initially working in London for several years completing her Junior Rotations in Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust. After a period of travelling around the world, she moved back to Bristol and has since been specialising as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. She has worked at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, during her time here completed a postgraduate qualification in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, MACP, of which she is still a member.

Mel has spent a large part of her career working as a musculoskeletal specialist in the NHS, as an Extended Scope Practitioner focusing on assessment, diagnostics and management of a wide range of conditions. During this time she has developed skills in Injection Therapy which she uses in the NHS as an adjunct to appropriate advice and exercise in management of certain conditions. Mel is highly skilled at being able to recognise when certain conditions may require investigations or a more specialist opinion which could benefit from surgery.

More recently, in the last 3 years, Mel has been working as a First Contact Practitioner in a very busy GP practice. Here she sees a huge variety of musculoskeletal conditions and enjoys being the first contact for patients to assess and differentially diagnose their symptoms and help patients optimally manage their condition. She works closely with her GP colleagues and provides training, support advice within the practice.

Mel is passionate about helping patients self manage their musculoskeletal conditions with an expert assessment, appropriate advice and treatment. She is particularly interested in treating patients holistically and aims to individualise treatment programs to suit patients needs, optimise recovery and improve quality of life.

Outside of work, Mel lives a very busy life; is a mother of 3 very active, sporty children. She enjoys going to the gym, competing in triathlons and enjoys many racquet sports.
